Mobile Dairy Classroom Visits Florence

On March 6, our Pre-K, 1st, and 2nd grade students learned about the dairy industry from the Southwest Dairy Farmers. Southwest Dairy Farmers visited Florence with their Mobile Dairy Classroom, a traveling exhibit featuring a live cow and educational presentation. The program aims to educate students about dairy farming, nutrition, and the journey of milk from farm to table.
Instructors from Southwest Dairy demonstrated how to milk a cow, described how milk goes from the farm to the consumer, and then answered questions from the audience. This innovative program brings the dairy experience directly to children. At schools, students and teachers share an experience that includes math, science, health (nutrition), and agriculture, all presented in an outdoor classroom format. The Mobile Dairy Classroom is a free program available year-round within the Southwest dairy region.
