Florence Elementary Newsletter

2026

Dear Florence Family,

As we step into February, our school community is buzzing with excitement and hard work! This month, we will focus on important testing, celebrating Black History Month, and spreading love with Valentine's Day activities. We are also excited to celebrate our wonderful school counselors, who play a vital role in supporting our students' well-being and success.
Additionally, get ready for tons of those notorious dress-up days that our parents love! :)

These fun events will add a splash of creativity and joy to our school days. We are thrilled to announce that the 100th day of school is upon us, marking a significant milestone in our academic journey. Each day counts, so let’s remember that attending school consistently is crucial for our success.

We look forward to a month filled with learning, celebration, and dedication. Together, we can make this February a fantastic time for all!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Cabrales, AP

Attendance Matters!

Why...?

Attendance is crucial for your child's success, and it matters for several important reasons:
  • Instilling Responsibility: Regular attendance helps instill a sense of responsibility in your student, teaching them the importance of commitment and reliability.
  • Social and Mental Health: Chronic absenteeism can significantly affect your child's social interactions and mental well-being. Being present in school fosters connections with peers and teachers, which is vital for emotional development.
  • Learning Opportunities: Every day missed is a day of learning lost. Consistent attendance ensures that students receive the full educational experience, allowing them to grasp essential concepts and skills.

This month, we will begin parent conferences and home visits to discuss attendance and its impact. Additionally, students with 18 or more absences will be required to participate in Recoup Hours to help them catch up on missed learning. If your child is affected by chronic absenteeism, you will be notified.
Thank you for your continued support in prioritizing your child's education. Together, we can ensure they thrive!

As the end of the year approaches, we'll need volunteers! Sign up to help! :-)
